At Apple Rubber, our continuing commitment to employee health and wellness is bolstered by the great suggestions we receive from our employees. Based on a comment from an Apple Rubber team member, we recently created a smoke-free wellness area – a beautiful 12’ x 24’ gazebo.
The gazebo is located a short distance from the plant in an attractive green space and provides a great place for Apple Rubber employees to enjoy lunches, breaks, and training. We feel that the gazebo will offer a safe haven for team members to release the stress of the day, which – in turn – helps to maintain a positive well-being.
Stress is one of the biggest problems in the fast-paced world in which we live and work. The benefits of simply eating a quiet lunch in a stress-free zone can include better digestion; slower consumption without the “I-need-to-rush” feeling; and even lower blood pressure.
The gazebo is maintenance-free, so there is no need for stains or paints that could leach into the environment. The roof is made of out-of-spec rubber, which reduces landfill waste and doubles the life of a traditional roof for better sustainability. Most of the other building materials can be recycled, as well.
