Lancaster, N.Y. -- More and more manufacturers require permanent identification marks on their parts to aid in traceability -- especially in medical, aerospace and military applications, where safety and security are especially important. Now, thanks to the Samurai UV Laser Marking System, Apple Rubber offers laser marking capabilities under its own roof with the new Apple LaserMark.

The Apple LaserMark process is used to create characters, graphics and logos on customers’ parts. Rather than using a physical tool to etch the surface of the part, the laser light produces damage-free, easy-to-read marks. Apple LaserMark allows for complete visibility, reduced maintenance, material flexibility and minimal contamination for all customer parts and products.

"Laser marking makes it easy for us to identify parts during replacement or repair," says John Tranquilli, materials manager. "It provides permanent marking for graphics that would have to be traditionally inked, which could wear off over time."

The in-house laser marking system makes it possible for Apple Rubber to track parts, improve process flow and maintain consistent product quality. Laser marking especially offers advantages for tracking in the aerospace, automotive, defense and medical industries, where equipment must be able to endure harsh conditions.

"We are continuously looking for value-added processes to support our customer base," says John Tranquilli. "Laser marking gives customers security in knowing that they’re receiving the authentic, high-quality parts that their applications demand."
